Roopa is a Special Counsel with extensive experience in environmental, planning and local government law. She has worked across private practice, government and in-house roles, providing her with a well-rounded and practical understanding of the regulatory environment and the competing priorities of public authorities and private sector clients.
Roopa advises on all aspects of the planning framework, including development assessment and approval pathways, re-zonings processes, compliance and enforcement, unlawful development, and complex statutory interpretation of planning instruments. She is particularly experienced in navigating jurisdictional and permissibility issues arising under environmental planning instruments. Roopa regularly appears in the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
