We have successfully acted for a group of owners of a strata building in Blacktown where the land was to be acquired by Blacktown City Council in connection with the proposed rezoning of the land to RE1 Public Recreation.
We were able to negotiate effectively with Blacktown City Council to ensure that our clients received the maximum compensation available to them. In doing so, we undertook a range of strategic steps, including securing valuation evidence on the basis of the highest and best use of the land, and ensuring that the public purpose of the acquisition was properly disregarded in the assessment of compensation.
The majority of the lot owners held their properties as investment assets, and the proposed acquisition had a significant personal and financial impact on them. By acting for the owners collectively as a single strata group, we were able to adopt a coordinated approach to negotiations, which ultimately maximised the overall compensation outcome achieved for our clients.
